Neurodivergence isn’t a shadow, it’s a spectrum of light.
Neurodivergence isn’t a shadow, it’s a spectrum of light.
Light takes many forms — so does potential.
“Hikari” (光), meaning light in Japanese, reflects our commitment to being a gentle, steady presence for those navigating complex paths. Just as light helps us see what was once hidden, we support individuals and families in discovering clarity, capability, and confidence, especially in the face of developmental and learning differences.
At Hikari Psychological Practice, we believe that potential shines differently for each of us. Like light through trees, it filters in its own direction, catches on different leaves, and illuminates different paths — even if the world doesn’t always see it clearly.
We offer therapy, assessment, and consultation that are rooted in psychological science, behavioural support, and neuro-affirming, inclusive values. We also believe in working collaboratively with families, schools, and allied professionals to ensure support is practical, respectful, and sustainable across time and environments.
We specialize in:
Autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions
Intellectual and learning disabilities
Behavioural challenges at home, in school, or in the community
Emotional regulation, anxiety, and social development
Support for neurodivergent adults navigating work or life transitions
Whether you're a parent seeking clarity, a young person learning about yourself, or a professional looking for a trusted collaborator, Hikari is here to illuminate possibilities and create space for growth — in your own time, in your own way.

Merissa Ang is a registered educational psychologist with over 15 years of experience working across Singapore and New Zealand. Her practice is rooted in a deep respect for human diversity, a strong commitment to evidence-based approaches, and the belief that meaningful support must honor the individual — not just the diagnosis.
Merissa has worked with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on those with autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and complex behavioral needs. Her professional experience spans a broad range of settings, including preschools, special education schools, private clinics, vocational training programmes, residential care homes, and community-based services.
She has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent individuals with learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Her work includes designing and implementing strengths-based, sustainable strategies for managing complex behaviors, and incorporating structured intervention methods such as visual supports, task analysis, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, and discrete trial teaching. Merissa also provides individual and group-based social skills training, conducts school observations, and offers inclusive, collaborative consultations.
Her services extend across clinic-based, home-based, and school-integrated settings. She conducts diagnostic assessments, school placement evaluations, and facilitates vocational preparation and workplace adjustment for neurodivergent adults. In addition, she delivers caregiver training, professional development workshops, and provides supervision and mentoring for professionals in education, psychology, and disability services. Merissa is a strong advocate for multidisciplinary collaboration and has worked closely with occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, psychiatrists, educators, and other allied professionals.
Merissa’s therapeutic approach is grounded in flexibility, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. She believes there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and tailors interventions to align with each client’s unique values, goals, and strengths. Her work draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Behavioural Therapy (with a focus on Positive Behaviour Support), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Approaches, and Social Skills Training.
Over the years, Merissa has collaborated with numerous organisations and services, including the Ministry of Education (Singapore), Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) centres, SPED Schools, and Adult Disability Centres.
